Coastal Hazards of Superior Relocated Home in Herbster Wisconsin Field Trip

This field trip is open to all! Please register for this event in advance to attend. There is no cost to attend, and space is limited to 25 attendees. You are responsible for your own transportation to and from the field trip location. The field trip site is in Herbster, Wisconsin and the specific address will be emailed to registered attendees.

Description:

Join us on August 24, 2022, for this Coastal Hazards of Superior (CHAOS) field trip where we will be visiting a home in Herbster, Wisconsin that was relocated away from an eroding Lake Superior bluff. We will meet at the Herbster property at 10:00 a.m. and spend about two hours exploring the site and the bluff. We will be joined by Bayfield County Land Records Administrator Scott Galetka and Wisconsin Geological and Natural History Survey Geomorphologist Elmo Rawling, who will discuss land information, glacial geology and bluff erosion along the Lake Superior shoreline.
